Julia began her career as an environmental mediator before joining Automattic, the company behind WordPress. There, she became deeply involved in open source, community building, and organizing WordCamps and numerous meetups. Even after moving on, she speaks highly of the collaborative spirit at Automattic, the people she worked alongside, and the strength of its distributed work culture.
Today, Julia works at E2M Solutions, where she leads community events and partnerships with a focus on helping agencies implement AI in practical, meaningful ways. She’s especially proud of the success of the first Vistara conference in Denver, which explored how organizations can thoughtfully integrate AI into their systems, and she’s excited about what’s next – including upcoming events in Austin, Texas.
On a personal note, Julia shares her life with her partner, Desi, who works in environmental justice and education. Together, they’re united by a love of nature, music, and community – interests that don’t just bring joy, but also enrich their relationship and shape how they engage with the world.
